"The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World" er en årlig rapport som er utarbeidet av FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, WFP og WHO for å informere om fremgang i kampen for å få slutt på sult, oppnå matsikkerhet og forbedre ernæring og for å gi en grundig analyse av sentrale utfordringer for å nå dette målet i sammenheng med bærekraftsmålene.
Beatrice Hagenimana kom med familien til flyktningleiren Mahama i øst-Rwanda for to år siden.
"Vi måtte forlate Burundi. Folk ville drepe oss, så vi hadde ikke noe valg. Jeg vil virkelig dra hjem igjen, men det er ikke mulig. Situasjonen er fortsatt veldig usikker," sier Beatrice.
Siden 2015 har over 60.000 flyktninger fra Burundi krysset grensen til Rwanda.

"Vi var en lykkelig familie i Sør-Sudan. Men i perioder preget av usikkerhet fantes det ikke utdanning og mat. Jeg kom til Uganda på grunn av konflikt og sult.
Du vet når noen føler seg sulten. Du ser i ansiktene deres at de ikke smiler. Man kan føle seg irritert, og man er ikke snill med mennesker rundt seg.
Gaza står i fare for å rammes av hungersnød hvis ikke tilgangen til mat, rent vann og helse- og sanitærtjenester gjenopprettes raskt. Hele befolkningen - ca. 2,2 millioner mennesker - lider av matusikkerhet på krisenivå eller verre.
Det er den alarmerende konklusjonen i en ny Integrated Food Security Phase Classification-rapport som ble offentliggjort torsdag 22.
FNs World Food Programme (WFP) har gjennom mange år samarbeidet med tenketanker og den akademiske verden med ekspertise innen en rekke ulike fagområder.
Antall mennesker som står overfor akutt matusikkerhet (IPC/CH 3 eller verre) kan stige til 265 millioner i 2020. Det er en økning på 130 millioner - fra 135 millioner i 2019 – som et resultat av de økonomiske konsekvensene av COVID-19, i følge en prognose fra WFP.

15 september 2017, København – Etter en jevn nedgang de siste 10 årene, har nå antall mennesker som sulter økt. 815 mennesker var påvirket av sult i 2016, 11 prosent av verdens befolkningen, sier en ny utgave av FNs årsrapport angående verdens matvaresikkerhet og ernæring som ble utgitt i dag.
Beasleys besøk finner sted samtidig som at Libanon står overfor en tredobbel krise forårsaket av eksplosjonen, økonomisk sammenbrudd samt COVID-19-viruset. I løpet av tre dager i Libanon, har Beasley besøkt havnene i Beirut og Tripoli, samt vært vitne til matvaredistribusjoner og utdeling av mat fra offentlige kjøkken driftet av WFPs partner Caritas.
