"The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World" er en årlig rapport som er utarbeidet av FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, WFP og WHO for å informere om fremgang i kampen for å få slutt på sult, oppnå matsikkerhet og forbedre ernæring og for å gi en grundig analyse av sentrale utfordringer for å nå dette målet i sammenheng med bærekraftsmålene.
Moses er far til tre barn og liker å produsere honning på fritiden. Han har jobbet med Verdens matvareprogram (WFP) i 15 år, og står nå på frontlinjen av WFPs arbeid for flyktningkrisen i Uganda.
Klokken er ikke engang tolv i Satara, en avsidesliggende landsby i Nigers sørvestlige Tillaberi-region, og gradestokken nærmer seg allerede 40 grader. Den asfalterte veien til landsbyen er humpete og sandete.
FNs World Food Programme (WFP) har seks tiår med erfaring i å støtte skolemat- og helseinitiativer, og samarbeider med mer enn 100 land for å etablere bærekraftige nasjonale programmer.
Gjennom den lokalproduserte skolematmodellen, vil 1000 småskalabønder, som hovedsakelig består av kvinner, levere matvarer til skolemat. Bøndene vil også dra nytte av kapasitetsbygging innen produksjon, håndtering etter høsting og markedsføring.
Bidraget vil opprettholde og forbedre tilgangen til utdanning ved å tilby næringsrike og varierte skolemåltider.
FNs World Food Programme (WFP) er den ledende humanitære organisasjonen som redder og forandrer liv, leverer matassistanse i katastrofesituasjoner, og arbeider med lokalsamfunn for å forbedre ernæring og bygge motstandskraft.
Som mor til to barn var det ikke enkelt for Jeanette fra Rwanda å finne arbeid på en gård. "Ikke alle arbeidsgivere vil ansette en kvinne med små barn. Vi hadde ikke råd til å betale for sykeforsikring eller låne land der vi kunne dyrke våre egne avlinger", sier hun.
Tobarnsmoren Agustina fra Guatemala syntes det var vanskelig å få endene til å møtes.
