Kartet – Global Monitoring of School Meals during COVID-19 School Closures – gir daglige skjermbaserte oppdateringer om stengte skoler og antall barn som følge av stengingene ikke lenger får daglige skolemåltider.
I tillegg til det globale overblikket, viser kartet gjennom realtidsdata hvor mange barn som rammes i hvert land, samt til omfanget av problemet og behovet for løsninger.
Takket være giverland som Norge har WFP nylig fordelt US$180 millioner til rundt 60 landoperasjoner — samtidig som det gir et viktig og vitalt løft til livreddende innsats i Syria, Jemen, Den sentralafrikanske republikken og Den demokratiske republikken Kongo.
15 september 2017, København – Etter en jevn nedgang de siste 10 årene, har nå antall mennesker som sulter økt. 815 mennesker var påvirket av sult i 2016, 11 prosent av verdens befolkningen, sier en ny utgave av FNs årsrapport angående verdens matvaresikkerhet og ernæring som ble utgitt i dag.

Ved å bygge videre på oppsvingen av matvareassistanse som avverget hungersnød i Kasai og Kasai-Central, oppskalerte FN-organisasjonen med raske inngrep i de urolige østlige provinsene Ituri, Tanganyika, og nordlige og sørlige Kivu, hvor oppblussende konflikter tvang mange flere mennesker fra hjemmene deres.
Assistanse ble gitt i form av matvarer og kontanter, samt spesialisert og ernæringsberik
Livet kunne ikke bli mer grusomt, tenkte Doulama Saeb etter å ha flyktet fra Deir-ez-Zor i østlige Syria. Familien hennes var etterlatt i den beleirede byen, uten mat, forsyninger, penger eller fungerende banker. Faren hennes overlevde på muggent brød dyppet i te som han kokte igjen og igjen.
