Kartet – Global Monitoring of School Meals during COVID-19 School Closures – gir daglige skjermbaserte oppdateringer om stengte skoler og antall barn som følge av stengingene ikke lenger får daglige skolemåltider.
I tillegg til det globale overblikket, viser kartet gjennom realtidsdata hvor mange barn som rammes i hvert land, samt til omfanget av problemet og behovet for løsninger.
Konflikt tvinger millioner av mennesker til å forlate landet sitt, hjemmene sine og jobbene sine — og setter dem i fare for sult eller til og med hungersnød.
Samtidig kan sult bidra til konflikt når det er kombinert med fattigdom, arbeidsledighet og økonomiske utfordringer.

Flukten fra det sørlige Idlib
Det var en varm og solrik morgen da Shadia og familien hennes flyktet fra hjembyen deres i det sørlige distriktet av Idlib.
Takket være giverland som Norge har WFP nylig fordelt US$180 millioner til rundt 60 landoperasjoner — samtidig som det gir et viktig og vitalt løft til livreddende innsats i Syria, Jemen, Den sentralafrikanske republikken og Den demokratiske republikken Kongo.
OUAGADOUGOU/KØBENHAVN – FNs World Food Programme (WFP) varslet i dag om en eskalerende humanitær krise drevet av utbredt konflikt og de langvarige effektene av klimaendringer som har rammet Burkina Faso og nabolandene i den sentrale delen av Sahel regionen i Vest-Afrika.
Tilgjengeligheten av fleksible midler gjorde at WFP kunne respondere raskt på den verste tørken Sahel har sett på fire år. WFP nådde over 3 millioner mennesker med matvareassistanse og kunne dermed avverge en stor matvarekrise.
Livet kunne ikke bli mer grusomt, tenkte Doulama Saeb etter å ha flyktet fra Deir-ez-Zor i østlige Syria. Familien hennes var etterlatt i den beleirede byen, uten mat, forsyninger, penger eller fungerende banker. Faren hennes overlevde på muggent brød dyppet i te som han kokte igjen og igjen.
Ved å bygge videre på oppsvingen av matvareassistanse som avverget hungersnød i Kasai og Kasai-Central, oppskalerte FN-organisasjonen med raske inngrep i de urolige østlige provinsene Ituri, Tanganyika, og nordlige og sørlige Kivu, hvor oppblussende konflikter tvang mange flere mennesker fra hjemmene deres.
