Hva er din bakgrunn? Jeg har en bachelorgrad i statsvitenskap og et årstudium i fransk fra NTNU. Etter året med fransk jobbet jeg som praktikant ved den norske delegasjonen til FN-organisasjonene i Roma (FAO, WFP, IFAD), som er en del av den norske ambassaden i Italia.
Hvorfor søkte du på denne stillingen?
Kartet – Global Monitoring of School Meals during COVID-19 School Closures – gir daglige skjermbaserte oppdateringer om stengte skoler og antall barn som følge av stengingene ikke lenger får daglige skolemåltider.
I tillegg til det globale overblikket, viser kartet gjennom realtidsdata hvor mange barn som rammes i hvert land, samt til omfanget av problemet og behovet for løsninger.
"For millioner av barn over hele verden er det måltidet de får i skolen ofte det eneste måltidet de får i løpet av dagen. Uten det vil de gå sultne, de risikerer å bli syke og å droppe ut av skolen, og dermed miste den beste muligheten de har til å ta seg ut av fattigdom.
“Dagens avstemming i Sikkerhetsrådet er et stort skritt fremover i innsatsen for å bryte sirkelen av konflikt og sult som står i veien for velstand og fred for flere hundre millioner mennesker,” sier David Beasley. “Sikkerhetsrådet anerkjenner at matvaresikkerhet er en avgjørende faktor for å skape fred og sikkerhet.
Advarselen fra WFP er klar: "Volden må stoppe nå for å gi Jemen en sjanse til å trekke seg tilbake fra ødeleggelsene. Hvis ikke, blir dette et land av levende spøkelser.
Rekordhøyt antall mennesker i Sør-Sudan vet ikke hvor de skal få tak i sitt neste måltid, og sulten øker under den magre sesongen mellom mai og juni. Dermed opplever 6.9 millioner mennesker usikker tilgang til mat — 60 prosent av Sør-Sudans befolkning.
